Engagement Videos: What You Need to Know

Being engaged is an incredible stage of your life! You’re likely feeling a combination of tingly excitement and overwhelming stress as your wedding planning progresses (especially right now with all the COVID-19 concerns!). Still, being engaged is a time that should be celebrated as you and your partner prepare to unite and settle in together for life. One unique way you can commemorate this stage is by booking an engagement video shoot! Check out some engagement video ideas below and how you can use them during this time leading up to your wedding.

  1. Announce Your Wedding Date

A video can serve as a fun and different way to reveal your wedding date! You can share this video at engagement parties, bridal showers, or online.

  1. Tell Your Story

Share what makes you special as a couple! Engagement videos can include interviews and/or voice overs of the two you. You can talk about how you met, how you fell in love, and how the proposal happened! This is an effective and emotional way for others to get to know you as a couple (and can be especially beneficial for out-of-town friends and family who may not know your significant other very well yet.)

  1. Show Your Personality

Your engagement video can be anything you want it to be! You can be serious or keep it lighthearted – whatever best reflects your personality as a couple. This video can include footage of anything you enjoy doing as a couple, whether that’s hiking, playing sports, exploring downtown, or simply making a meal together at home. There are countless engagement video ideas out there!

Note about COVID-19:

This is a rough time to be engaged with the coronavirus in full effect. Venues aren’t offering tours, vendors are pausing meetings with potential clients, and businesses are uncertain of when they can reopen. Many couples who were planning on getting married in 2020 are being forced to reschedule to next year. That’s why I’m happy to announce that I’m still available for shooting engagement videos at this time! These shoots will be conducted with proper social distancing rules and will take place at safe locations. I’m offering these videos at a great rate, so get in touch!

This summer marks the 2 year anniversary of me and Kenny’s move to Atlanta! I can’t believe we’ve lived here for 2 years already – we love Georgia and everything it has to offer. Kenny is still greatly enjoying his work at the Georgia Tech Research Institute, which is a huge blessing. I’m thankful for all the amazing weddings and video projects I’ve gotten to shoot here, along with all the wonderful friends and talented creators I’ve met here as well! Being an Atlanta videographer is sincerely a dream come true for me.

Great coffee and nice buns!

  1. Best Coffee Shop for Working Remote: Bread + Butter Bakery (in the Marietta Square Market)

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’m in Marietta Square a lot. Like, a LOT a lot. I love the vibe, I love the food, and I especially love the new Marietta Square Market. Inside is the Bread + Butter Bakery, which has outstanding coffee, heavenly baked goods, and plenty of space to work. I love treating myself to an afternoon in the Square!

  1. Best Place to Shop and Stroll: Ponce City Market

Ponce City Market is an easy go-to date for us! We typically do some window shopping (although I always have to go into Posman Books!), grab a bite to eat inside, then walk along the Beltline for a bit if the weather is nice.

  1. Best Place to Order Takeout When We’re Starving: Tin Lizzy’s Cantina

To say we’re in love with this local chain is an understatement. Tin Lizzy’s has plenty of locations around Atlanta, which is ideal when we’re coming home from a day trip a need a bite to eat. Their skillets are our favorite since they’re so tasty and filling. (This tends to be our go-to meal after a day of hiking because we’re ravenous and also too tired to cook something.)

  1. Best Place to Grab a Beer When You Don’t Feel Like Fighting Crowds: Red Hare Brewing Company

Sometimes we just need a beer after a long day of work – on those days, we go to Red Hare! There are so many great Atlanta breweries so it’s hard to choose just one as our favorite, but we like Red Hare because it’s a chill, dog-friendly spot with fun games and delicious beer.

  1. Best Spot for Cool Photos: Krog Street Market and Tunnel

The Krog Street Market is cool, and driving through the Krog Street Tunnel is even cooler! Bring your camera to capture all the stunning graffiti displayed here.

  1. Best Movie Theater: Starlight Drive-In

As a kid, I went to the drive-in theater a lot with my family, so of course I was thrilled to find one so close in Atlanta. The Starlight Drive-in is affordable, shows the latest movies, and the best part is you get to watch while relaxing in your car with snacks and pillows!

  1. Best Thing to Do on a Thursday Night: Alive in Roswell

We love walking through downtown Roswell – and it’s even more fun when Alive in Roswell is happening! Check it out every third Thursday from April to October. You can grab a beer or a snack from a food truck and walk around to see the vendor booths or jam out to the live music. It’s a blast and everyone should attend!
